FHM is a parent led school that encourages family and community involvement as a key to our success. It is well documented that academic performance is directly tied to parent involvement. Accordingly, we believe strongly in providing opportunites for those who can participate during school hours and those who need opportunities outside of school hours. We encourage families to provide 50 hrs per family per year. Parents may choose to take on a leadership role or a support role. There are a variety of support volunteer opportunities; please see the Community Support Network web site for information. There are three leadership teams parents can participate in: Board of Directors - responsible for the strategic direction of the school, maintaining accountability for the school budget and managing the hiring and annual reviews for the Head of School. There are also several committees on which parents can serve, including the Governance Committee, Finance Committee, Communications Committee, and Facilities Committee. Accountability Committee - responsible for understanding the district accountability requirements, providing the annual strategic plan and accountability report for review by the FHM Board of Directors, supporting the Head of School through research, school survey's, and networking to ensure that FHM's curriculum is resulting in continous improvement based on appropriate assessments. Community Support Network - responsible for providing a welcoming environment for the community of parents through a variety of events, coordinating volunteers, providing mentoring for new families & managing fundraising. |
